We're funded! What's next?
about 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 09, 2021 at 01:10:08 AM

This campaign has been such a rollercoaster so far! But the amount of support we've received has been both overwhelming and heartwarming. Thank you all so much for everything! 💖 109% funded as of writing this backer update! Now, lets talk about stretch goals!

Wait... There's More!?

That's right! With a little less than 5 days left for the campaign, I think it's important to mention the two stretch goals which have been revealed so far!

-First is the New Game+ stretch goal, which lets you play through the game from the beginning after completing it while retaining your level ups and letting you continue using your powered up equipment! In return, the enemies will also be powered up. We're less than 3k away from unlocking it as of this backer update!

-Second, and perhaps more important, is the Switch Port stretch goal unlocked at 40k! It's very much in the realm of possibility that we could reach this goal by the end of the campaign, so let's keep pushing. However, if we don't reach the stretch goal, assuming the initial launch of the game does well enough, we still want to deliver a Switch port (and maybe even other consoles) whenever it's possible to do so!

Reaching this goal however will ensure that porting happens quicker (either on launch, or as soon as possible afterward) and it will also allow you to choose a Digital Switch key for the game if you have "Digital Copy of the Game" as a reward in your backer tier (and this will be chosen via a survey sent to you shortly after the completion of the Kickstarter).

The Eight Elements

As promised, this update I wanted to talk a bit about the eight elements and how they work. In the demo, you only get to experiment with 2 elements. Elements are cycled with the equivalent of "l" and "r" buttons. Because of this, 8 totally different elements would eventually cause the controls to become less fluid. So we decided on a mechanic where there's 4 base elements you find, and 4 upgrade elements to those base elements. The four base elements and their upgrades will be:

Ice -> Crystal - Short range but big hitbox, freezes enemies solid!

Fire -> Lightning - Mid-range multi-hit attacks that can also cause damage over time.

Light -> Water - Activates an aura. When you hit enemies while it's active, you're healed!

Earth -> Wind - Long range attacks, the latter of which is the only spell that can go over gaps!

Many aspects of the element improve and evolve when it upgrades to the second element. For example, the fire spell normally shoots a line of four fires in front of your character.

But lightning on the other hand shoots five lightning blasts, and with greater speed and range, also increasing the odds of getting multiple hits on an enemy per spellcast!

In addition to improving combat parameters, the spells can solve additional new types of puzzles compared to before, adding to the flexibility of the spell on the field. Note that they retain their previous abilities. So lightning, can for example still light a torch, while Crystal (the upgrade of ice) can still put out a fire. From that, I hope you can imagine how the elements will quickly become quite versatile as the game goes on.

Oh yeah, and that Postcat Hat accessory for Rio and Reima Backer Achievement reward is getting very close! At any rate, that's all I have for today. But boy has it been a day! Thanks again everyone who has been here! It means the world to us. 💖

Thanks for reading, and until next time!

First Stretch Goal and Postcat Hats Unlocked! Final 48 hours!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 09, 2021 at 12:50:21 AM

First Stretch Goal Reached!

Holy quacamole! You all rule; I can't believe it, the first stretch goal, "New Game+" was unlocked today! This means that upon completing the game, you'll be able to replay the game with all the equipment that you've earned in your previous playthrough (Including the Postcat Hat if you found it!), and start over against more powerful enemies.

This also means we've gotten closer the to Switch port stretch goal at $40k, which I know many (ourselves included!) are excited for. It won't be easy, but it's within reach. Let's all keep on pushing and we'll see what we can make happen! 💖

Postcat Hat Unlocked

Also bravo avacado! We also just reached 10 backer achievement points! Which means that the Postcat Hat accessory for Rio and Reima has been unlocked for the final game! You'll be able to equip/unequip this accessory once you've found it in the world, and it will visually show up on your character(s) of choice!

We're having a vote right now in the official Shrine's Legacy Discord Server to decide the potentially final backer achievement to be shown; it won't be easy to reach 13 backer achievement points but never say never! If you aren't in our Discord yet, you can join via the following link right now to make your vote! We'll be making the final decision later tonight so come on in: https://www.discord.gg/KxnRukD

New Reward Tier!

We decided to add a new high-end digital-only tier: "I'm an Ardemian Digital (Design)"! It's $300 compared to the physical tier equivalent of $600. It won't include the Physical Edition Box or any other physical rewards which is why we're able to make it less expensive. Basically, it'll allow a higher tier option for people who are only interested in digital items.

This tier is available now as of posting this update, so feel free to back it if it's something that interests you!

Shout-out

We have a unique shout-out today. We're shouting out a really awesome title that already completed a very successful Kickstarter campaign and is now going for wishlists on Steam! This game shares a few very similar elements (no pun intended) to our game, but with a very different style.

Elementallis

Elementallis is a 2D Zelda-like where the elements are of critical importance. Explore a vast world and complete the trials of its temples to be able to restore all the elements. You’ll be able to use these elements in fights, puzzle-solving and exploration. Freeze your enemies, grow vines to climb to higher places, light up dark places with fire or clear pits thanks to the power of the wind. You can even combine elements to maximize their impact!

Wishlist Elementallis on Steam at https://store.steampowered.com/app/1304280/Elementallis/

Thanks for everything, and until next time! 👋

The Final 4 (hours)
about 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 09, 2021 at 12:42:28 AM

Just under four hours remain and almost $35k has been raised! It has been a truly amazing run. We had no idea what to expect when we hit launch, so seeing the support of over 600 backers is totally surreal! Thank you all!

Celebration Stream

Join us on the official Shrine's Legacy Discord Server starting very soon after this backer update is published as we celebrate the completion of the Kickstarter! We'll be streaming the Shrine's Legacy demo and potentially other games as well!

Switch Port Stretch Goal

I know 4 hours isn't much time, but it's not technically over yet! And every little bit we get helps us make the Switch Port a reality sooner even if it doesn't get us all the way to the $40k goal! So just know that every donation big or small means the world to us!

And one last reminder, if we don't reach the Switch stretch goal, we still want to bring the game to Switch! We can't offer Switch keys as a backer reward unless we reach that goal, but you'll still be able to buy a separate digital Switch copy when the Switch version launches.

For those wondering why it's difficult to give Switch keys and why the stretch goal is necessary to do that, we have to pay a fee for each key that we ask from Nintendo, where as we don't have to do that for Steam keys.

New Add-on for Soundtrack copies

One last thing...if you were interested in getting more digital copies of the soundtrack, it is now available as an add-on for $10 each copy!

Phew! 😂

See you at the finish line in about 4 hours! ✌

Thank you all so much, and until next time,

Over 70% funded!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 28, 2021 at 02:25:14 PM

With about 12 days to go, we've reached 72% funded and over 400 backers! Thanks so much for the overwhelming support! There's now less than 7k left to raise before we're 100% funded! Not only that, but we're making very good progress towards new backer achievements (including just 4 Discord members away from the next Discord goal)! Let's see how far we can get!

Update on the Design-a-Postcat Contest

Meow! Just a few days into the Postcat design contest and we've already been receiving some really cool entries that we'd like to share.

Here's some really cool entries we've received so far via Discord!

Jirushi has been on a tear, with five awesome entries (I really love that Postbat, and the doll):

In order: Post Gabbard, Postbat, Giant Postcat, Postcat doll, and ****post

And others have made some mad cool designs too, check these three out! And if you have been following Something Classic's most recent project Quartet which recently finished on Kickstarter...you might notice a familiar character 😉. From various artists:

Flexcat by Jason, Postcat Juna by Tpop, and TrioPOSTCAT by Somecallmemichelle

These hilarious creations were done by TinyDevilGames, my favorite being the Postcat Post. Lol.

And what would the Postcats be without a cute postage stamp to use?

We can't wait to see more entries! A great place to share your entry and see everyone else's entries is on our Discord! Join our community via this link -> Shrine's Legacy Discord Server
